Summary
To provide education to students so that intellectual, emotional, developmental and social needs are met in order to foster life long learning and to become positive citizens.

As determined by the Teacher Master Agreement
Performance Responsibilities
- Provides instruction and monitors student progress of students in assigned classes and reports student progress to parents;
- Works with support staff and administration in dealing with student concerns in and outside of the teacher classroom.
- Selects and prepares educational activities for the course and also in a weekly lesson plan format; the activities are aligned with district and state outcomes.
- Participates in meetings such as: building staff meetings, department meetings, grade level meetings, K-12 curriculum meetings, staff development meetings, parent-teacher conferences and open house.
- Supervises students during the school day according to the established building supervision schedule as well as indirect supervision at all times during school activities.

- Educates students to reach their full potential academically, emotionally, physically and socially.
Critical Skills/Expertise
- Physical Involvement: Extended periods of standing when teaching or leading activity; frequently bends for extended periods of time to provide one on one assistance; frequently performs keyboarding activities for class preparation or grading; periodically lifts 10-25 lbs. equipment or supplies.
- Mental Involvement: Works with many students who have varying levels of abilities and skills. Works with interruptions, handles multiple tasks and organizes and prioritizes work assignments. Requires interpersonal and conflict resolution skills in dealing with students and parents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree minimum and appropriate licensure.
- Computer and various software programs, TV/VCR, Overhead projector, SmartBoard, Telephone, Copy Machine and other equipment depending on area of certification.
- Ability to work effectively with students in a positive manner.
- Valid Minnesota Driver’s License.
