Starting salary: $64,000 annually. Up to $4,000 stipend for certification and up to $4,000 signing bonus. Teachers in eligible courses can earn an additional $32,000 per year through the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) based on performance and student growth, with potential total earnings up to $102,800 depending on experience and designation.

Responsibilities

  • Write accurate, aligned, data-driven IEPs for students on your caseload
  • Develop rigorous lessons in your specific content area, in 1:1 blended learning environments, to prepare students for college and beyond while bridging gaps for marginalized communities
  • Set ambitious goals with students and monitor their progress through frequent and persistent feedback
  • Track student growth and use data and feedback from coaches to create student growth plans when needed
  • Build transformable relationships with students and families through regular communication via phone, video conference, email, or district-approved website
  • Create a physical or virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development
  • Collaborate with a co-planner to adapt daily lesson plans and resources to fit students’ needs
  • Meet deadlines for daily lesson plans, submitting grades, and work samples
  • Work on a team of teachers and leaders to provide consistency, support, and accountability to all students
  • Participate in content teams and professional development to norm on and improve student learning
  • Conduct weekly tutorials outside of regular class hours to provide additional instruction and support
  • Complete supervision duties on campus to support student safety, including morning duty, lunch duty, dismissal, detention, and afterschool duty
  • Complete compliance tasks such as updating service logs, IEP progress reports, and other documentation
  • Grow professionally by both receiving and giving feedback consistently from instructional leaders, school leaders, and the administration team
  • Persist in the face of challenges, learn from mistakes, and set a strong example of character for students
  • Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with campus leaders, collaborators, students, and parents
  • Facilitate dyslexia instruction for qualifying students as needed
  • Provide personal care services as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
  • Texas Educator Certification in Special Education, or willingness to join an Alternative Certification Program (ACP) to obtain certification in the first year
  • Strong ability to navigate web-related applications and technology
  • Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms

  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
