Pay

$47,536.00

Responsibilities

• Meets assigned classes at the scheduled times and provides instruction in required subjects or area of specialty.
• Establishes and maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive to effective learning, including supervising students as needed.
• Guides student learning toward the achievement of individual goals set by the teacher, student, and parent where applicable.
• Prepares for assigned classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Ensures a safe learning environment for students in the classroom.
• Incorporates Native American culture into instruction where appropriate.
• Evaluates student progress regularly and provides progress reports as required.
• Communicates student progress to students and parents at the end of each grading period and upon request.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by school policy, administration, and the Indian Education Act of 1978.
• Plans and supervises meaningful tasks for teacher aides and/or volunteers to facilitate student learning.
• Contributes to school program development and improvement by participating in committees, faculty meetings, and sharing expertise.
• Pursues professional growth through reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, or advanced courses.
• Makes themselves available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside of instructional hours when required or requested under reasonable terms.
• Accompanies students to and from instructional settings and activities, such as the cafeteria, assisting with transitions, seating, and waste disposal.
• Makes decisions regarding classroom procedures, discipline, student promotion or retention, field trips, and school policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Schedule

Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, including a working lunch provided at no cost. Employees supervise students during transitions within the school.

Physical Demands

• Ability to bend, stoop, and lift.
• Ability to walk outside during adverse weather conditions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
• Current North Dakota Teaching Certificate.
