About the role
The Ayer Shirley Regional School District is looking for a qualified School Adjustment Counselor to promote and assist academic, social, emotional, career, and learning development for all students.
Responsibilities
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion for all students and families.
- Design and deliver social-emotional learning through classroom lessons, school-wide initiatives (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), group and individual counseling, educator consultation and training, and parent workshops.
- Parent communication, teacher consultation, and coordination of Section 504 accommodation plans.
- Work collaboratively and consult as a team member with teachers, principals, and other school personnel to identify, evaluate, and recommend interventions for student adjustment.
- Meet with parents as needed to obtain information and suggest interventions to support students.
- Provide individual counseling for IEP and 504 students with social/emotional goals as determined through the team meeting process.
- Attend IEP/504 meetings attached to the caseload and any additional requested meetings; may be asked to write social-emotional goals, Part A assessments, and other appropriate paperwork.
- Work in conjunction with the Special Education and Student Services Department.
- Write social-emotional goals, Part A assessments, Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), and other assigned paperwork.
- Communicate with third-party providers as appropriate for each student.
- Conduct pre-referral conferences with school personnel in a team context to determine appropriate interventions for students.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution services when requested by school personnel.
- Participate in and organize counseling activities that contribute to the effectiveness and operation of the school.
Requirements
- Hold a valid license through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor (all levels).
- LICSW or LMHC in addition to DESE certification is helpful.
- Previous experience with implementing the MA Model 2.0 or 3.0 School Counseling approach preferred.
- Demonstrated success in mediation and relationship-building.
Pay
$55,430 to $110,948 per year.
