Elementary Reading/Math Tutor

About the role

The Elementary Tutor guides students at an elementary school in Reading and Math. This position is under the direct supervision of the Work Study Coordinator and indirectly supervised by the teacher at the elementary school.

Responsibilities

• Serve students in local elementary schools
• Act as a positive role model
• Demonstrate excellent listening and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and good judgment
• Maintain knowledge of reading and math fundamentals
• Apply tutoring or teaching techniques
• The duties listed are not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned by a supervisor

Requirements

• Must be awarded Federal Work Study funds
• Enrolled in at least 6 credits
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in college coursework or high school coursework for incoming freshmen
• Have your own transportation to the elementary school
• May be required to undergo a criminal background check; the college will cover the costs of all background checks required by the school district

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of tutoring or teaching techniques

Pay

$14.00 per hour
