The Opportunity
Lighthouse Community Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Literacy Specialist (Teacher on Special Assignment/TOSA) for the 2026-27 school year. This role is dedicated to improving language acquisition and reading outcomes in elementary school, providing supports to teachers and ELP staff, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Teach MTSS Intervention/ ELD
- Design and implement data-based reading intervention instruction and progress monitoring tools
- Facilitate implementation of adopted literacy curricula
- Provide coaching, model lessons, and real-time coaching to all teachers
- Coach, develop adults, culture, and teams in literacy and English Language Development
- Supports Literacy in the content areas and reading intervention programs
- Supports Network Professional Development days
- New Teacher Support Facilitation
- Data Analysis
- Curriculum & Assessment Materials
- Supports K-5 reclassification
- Serve as a Member of the Leadership Team
- Supervision
Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. required; Master’s Degree in Education preferred
- Valid California teaching credential required (or appropriate out of state teacher licensure being transferred to CA)
- 3+ years teaching in an urban school environment and K-8 setting, highly preferred
- 2+ years of coaching and/or school leadership experience preferred
- Experience with curriculum planning and data-analysis
- Experience with Google apps, preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish, a plus
