Elementary Librarian (Montessori Borealis)

Part-time (.50 FTE) elementary teaching position at Montessori Borealis (Dzantiki'i Heeni Campus), available August 2026.

About the role

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Principal, Literacy Coach, Instructional Support Team, and colleagues on instructional strategies, ongoing assessment, curriculum, and data analysis. This role focuses on building strong relationships with families and staff to meet the social, emotional, and instructional needs of each student.

Responsibilities

• Implement differentiated instructional strategies in reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Apply knowledge of Early Childhood best practices.
• Utilize effective instructional strategies in reading, including guided reading and direct instruction.
• Conduct ongoing assessment and progress monitoring of students.
• Learn and implement new instructional techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education.
• Valid Alaska teaching certificate, or ability to obtain upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education.
• Attendance at Literacy Institute and/or further training in the teaching of reading.
• Successful elementary teaching experience.
