ELEMENTARY KINDERGARTEN TEACHER Eligibility Pool

Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) is the fourth-largest school district in California, located in southern Sacramento County. About the Role

Under the direction of a site principal, principal's designee, or other appropriate administrator, plan, implement, monitor, and assess a classroom instructional program.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, monitor, and assess a classroom instructional program consistent with District and Board goals, local site goals, and specific objectives based on student needs.
• Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere; support and assist in maintaining district and site discipline policies.
• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff in assessing and helping pupils solve health, emotional, social, and learning problems.
• Participate in curricular and extra-curricular school programs, assessment and development activities, student supervision, and staff, parent, department, and District meetings.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding goals, student progress, needs, problems, and accomplishments.
• Develop and communicate curricular and instructional plans to students and parents, including course descriptions and performance expectations.
• Assess student progress and communicate it to parents at each grading period and in cases of unsatisfactory work or other instructional issues.
• Represent the District and assigned school or program to local and State groups; interact with outside agencies as necessary.
• Provide instruction to students with special needs in accordance with IEP; participate in IEP meetings as appropriate.
• Maintain records regarding students, including special education students, in accordance with site and District policy; prepare reports as directed.
• Develop lesson plans in accordance with site and District policy and prepare specific plans for substitutes as necessary.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, including courses needed to meet credential requirements and student teaching classroom experience.
• Valid California Teaching Credential.

Assignments may be full-time or part-time. The work year may be a traditional 10-month assignment or one of the tracks in the year-round school program.

• Valid Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
• Credential Copy (Copy of all current valid credentials from CTC website).
• English Learner Authorization (CLAD/BCLAD/EL/ELA/SDAIE or equivalent is required).
• Two signed Letters of Recommendation.
• Resume.

For the Credential Copy attachment, include the CTC page stating your credential expiration date and specific subject matter. If you are an intern-eligible student or completing your credential by 8/1/26, provide an official program status letter from your university. Out-of-state credentialed applicants should attach their appropriate out-of-state credential.
