Elementary Health and Physical Education Teacher

About the role

Middletown Township Public Schools is seeking a Health & Physical Education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Harmony Elementary.

Responsibilities

• Teach comprehensive health and physical education to students in grades K-5
• Implement the NJ Student Learning Standards for Health and Physical Education
• Utilize differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching strategies
• Familiarity with Least Restrictive Environment regulations
• Develop and maintain a safe and positive learning environment
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices
• Assist in extracurricular activities as needed

Requirements

• NJ Health & Physical Education certificate required
• Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities certificate preferred
• CPR and AED certificates or willingness to obtain

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current best practices in Health and Physical Education
• Experience in differentiating instruction and utilizing inclusive teaching strategies
• Knowledge of Least Restrictive Environment regulations
• Excellent classroom management skills

Skills

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff
• Proficiency in Google for Education

Benefits

The Middletown Township School District offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Full-time employees are eligible for medical, prescription, and dental benefits on the first day of hire.

Pay

Salary Range: $60,673 - $126,533 (as per the negotiated contract and commensurate with experience)

Schedule

Term: 8/27/2026 - 6/30/2027
