EdAdvance exists to promote the success of school districts and their communities. As a public nonprofit Regional Educational Service Center (RESC) created in 1966, we serve 32 communities and 29 School Boards/Districts across Litchfield, Danbury, Plymouth, and Torrington with over 600 employees. Our schools are well-staffed with experienced administrative, related services, mental health, and behavioral professionals, allowing for low student-teacher ratios and small caseload sizes. Responsibilities

• Develop and administer school elementary curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives
• Adapt core elementary subjects to match unique learning styles and cognitive levels
• Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that engage students to maximize learning
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including those with special needs
• Direct, supervise, and support classroom paraprofessionals
• Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) directly into daily academic routines
• Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance
• Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
• Assist with progress monitoring and designing measurable IEP goals and objectives
• Participate in physical safety or crisis management training required for high-risk behaviors
• Utilize restorative practices to help students regulate their behavior, develop perspective-taking, and take personal responsibility for their actions
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Active Connecticut Certification in Elementary Education (Endorsement #305)
• Preference for those who hold an active Certification in Special Education (Endorsement #065, #165, #265, or #113) or are interested in pursuing cross-endorsement
• Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and therapeutic holding, as required
• Regular and consistent attendance is essential

• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth
• Flexibility in response to the unpredictability of student academic and behavioral needs
