About the Role

Basic classroom teachers will collaborate with and assist Special Teachers in art, basic skills, music, reading, and physical education as needed. Special Teachers share the same major duties and responsibilities as traditional classroom teachers.

Requirements

• Satisfactory completion of student teaching (minimum experience level)
• Proper Pennsylvania certification in subject or special field area
• B.S. or B.A. Degree (minimum education)
• Credentials in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations governing the position

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instruction
• Encourage all students to learn well
• Maintain and report information on pupil progress
• Teach subjects required in the curriculum and planned course documents of the school district
• Prepare and submit written lesson plans as a basis for daily activities
• Be responsible for specified building duties as detailed by the elementary principals
• Attend all faculty and building meetings
• Participate in all in-service and training activities
• Perform additional responsibilities as determined by the Board of School Directors and district administration
• Familiarize with and execute district policies as required by the school's administration
• Plan and initiate parent-teacher conferences when desirable
• Contribute to the development of the annual instructional budget

Schedule

7 1/2 hours per day, 189 days per year.
