Elementary Art Classroom Teacher - Part-Time

Part-time contract position at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School in Houston, Texas for the 2026-2027 school year (August–May, with some additional training days). Pay rate depends on education and experience.

About the Role

The successful candidate will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing Archdiocesan-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, addressing individual educational needs, and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment. The position reports to the School Principal and involves both face-to-face and remote online teaching.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer school curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives.
• Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into learning experiences.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, modifying instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs.
• Instruct students in responsible digital citizenship and other subjects as specified by applicable laws and school regulations.
• Acquire professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, or research.
• Maintain accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for student activities, achievement, and attendance.
• Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
• Enforce student conduct standards to maintain a functional learning atmosphere.
• Coordinate with staff to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
• Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment.
• Administer standardized tests in accordance with testing programs.
• Follow and uphold all COVID protocols set forth by the school.
• Maintain classroom order and behavioral management for safety.
• Oversee students during non-instructional duties (e.g., lunch, carpool).
• Assist with morning, lunch, or afternoon duty as assigned.

Requirements

• Mature, responsible, energetic, and nurturing with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Texas State Teaching Certification.
• Pass a criminal background check clearance.
• Trained and verified in Safe Haven child abuse awareness.
• Committed to the philosophy of Catholic school and value-oriented education.
• Current Catechist Certificate or working toward one.

Qualifications

• State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related discipline.
• Master’s Degree in a related area preferred.
• Prior teaching experience will be considered.
