As an elementary teacher, you will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, build effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a strong educational foundation.

Responsibilities

Instruction and Education

• Plan and implement a program of instruction adhering to the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in adopted courses of study.
• Create purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that maximize time on task and incorporate effective teaching strategies.
• Present subject matter to maximize learning opportunities, using real-world, application-based examples.
• Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs; maintain accurate and complete student records.
• Maximize the educational achievement of each student through varied instructional modalities and differentiated instruction.
• Use diagnostic assessments frequently to evaluate student learning, provide appropriate activities, and generate progress reports.
• Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
• Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
• Coordinate class field trips as required.
• Prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
• Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; share knowledge to improve the school’s curriculum.
• Assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process, including updating written courses of study.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Become familiar with supplemental services beneficial to students as extensions of classroom activities.

Classroom Environment

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support child growth.
• Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student-generated work as appropriate.
• Implement relevant policies governing student conduct.
• Develop reasonable rules of classroom and playground behavior in line with CSUSA policy and maintain fair, consistent order.

Instructional Planning

• Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals.
• Plan individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
• Prepare for assigned classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
• Participate in curriculum planning with other staff members during designated meetings.
• Incorporate diagnostic information from students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into planning.
• Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities for effective instruction.

School and Community Relations

• Establish cooperative relations and communicate with parents/guardians when appropriate.
• Communicate clearly, consistently, and positively with parents via all appropriate mediums.
• Cooperate with administration, staff, and CSUSA.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records.
• Participate in parent communication activities and extracurricular activities to foster a positive school culture and support students and staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
• Command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
• Understanding of and commitment to company values.
• Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
• Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
• Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment includes usual office conditions. The physical demands include light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Travel within or outside the state may be required.
