Electropolish Technician

About the role

The Electropolish Technician uses an electrolytic process to remove metal in an ionic solution by means of electric potential. This process simultaneously deburrs, smooths, brightens, and removes surface contaminants of the base metal. Electropolishing removes impurities and other embedded contaminants which form during mechanical polishing, resulting in a smooth, mirror-like finish that helps prevent contamination.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all Feldmeier safety and Company policies and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
• Set up and operate equipment for assigned jobs while wearing proper PPE.
• Understand metal finishing and electropolishing processes.
• Read and interpret drawings and work orders for specific requirements.
• Work in confined spaces to perform tasks.
• Set up electropolishing equipment, including cleaning equipment, assembling fixtures, and connecting electrical cables.
• Follow existing protocols for electropolishing specific parts.
• Visually inspect parts to ensure the final finish meets requirements (e.g., applicable Codes and standards, customer specifications, and Feldmeier Equipment SOPs) prior to Quality Control inspection.
• Communicate concerns to management.
• Perform touch-ups using mechanical polishing with power tools.

Requirements

• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, and maneuvering up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and platforms for elevated work.
• Comfortable with walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, balancing, stooping, lying down inside or under vessels, and twisting while performing tasks.
• Comfortable working with chemicals and using proper PPE for chemical safety.
• Willingness to work in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous work with electropolishing.
• Previous work with passivation.
• Previous work in plating or metal cleaning.
• Previous work with rigging and overhead cranes.

Pay

$22.00–$31.50 per hour.
