About the role

Vishay Barry is currently seeking applicants for an Electroplating Technician. The position is based in Attleboro, MA, near major highways and several dining options. The facility covers 40,000 square feet and employs approximately 70 people.

Responsibilities

  • Review work orders, drawings, travelers, and related paperwork to confirm plating requirements, specifications, and processing instructions.
  • Verify that all prior manufacturing operations have been completed before beginning the plating process.
  • Identify job-specific plating parameters and set tank controls accordingly, including time, temperature, current, voltage, and other required settings.
  • Perform proper tank setup and execute plating instructions in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Rack, tool, and handle parts properly to ensure quality plating results and prevent damage.
  • Inspect parts prior to plating to confirm proper surface preparation and cleanliness.
  • Visually inspect completed parts for plating quality, coverage, appearance, and workmanship.
  • Absorb and assist with routine maintenance of plating systems and equipment, including adding chemicals, changing filters, maintaining racks, and supporting general upkeep of the plating area.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by work instructions, travelers, and quality procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Follow all environmental, health, and safety regulations, including proper chemical handling, SDS awareness, and PPE requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement, housekeeping, and cross-functional teamwork within the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of electroplating experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, blueprints, and process instructions.
  • Strong understanding of plating processes, tank setup, racking, tooling, and part handling.
  • Experience working with chemicals in a manufacturing or plating environment.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to environmental, health, and safety practices.
  • Knowledge of SDS requirements and chemical handling procedures.
  • Must consistently comply with PPE requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work in a harsh chemical environment for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team-based manufacturing environment.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Physical And Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work around plating chemicals, tanks, fumes, and related equipment.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, rack, and handle parts as required by the job.
  • Always follow all safety and environmental procedures.
