Electrophysiology Technologist
About the role
The EP Lab Tech assists in all procedures performed in the EP area. The EP Technologist requires detailed knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, disease processes and principles of cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional technology in a safe patient care setting. The EP Technologist demonstrates an expert knowledge of radiological equipment and safety, shielding techniques, expert imaging skills and X-ray equipment trouble-shooting skills, analyzing, 3D mapping and recording equipment and other equipment utilized in the Electrophysiology Lab, and performs unit-based activities, which contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
Responsibilities
- Aids in all procedures performed in the EP area.
- Demonstrates detailed knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and principles of cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional technology.
- Ensures adherence to safety protocols and radiation shielding techniques.
- Utilizes expert imaging skills and X-ray equipment trouble-shooting skills.
- Analyzes and records equipment used in the Electrophysiology Lab.
- Contributes to a positive and professional work environment through unit-based activities.
Requirements
- Graduate of accredited school of cardiovascular technology.
- High School Graduate / GED.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- (ARRT-R) Radiography, (RCES) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, or (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of cardiovascular technology.
Skills
- Expert knowledge of radiological equipment and safety.
- Expert imaging skills and X-ray equipment trouble-shooting skills.
- 3D mapping and recording equipment expertise.
