About the role

The Engineering (Electronics) Technician will service and repair customer-owned test and measurement instruments—oscilloscopes, multimeters, analyzers, and similar equipment—returning from the field. These instruments may be 15 to 20 years old. The work is diagnostic and decision-based, not production or assembly-line.

Responsibilities

  • Repair customer-owned test and measurement instruments.
  • Run instruments through automated test stations upon arrival.
  • Review and analyze test data outputs to identify failures in components such as front-end boards, acquisition boards, and motherboards.
  • Make informed technical decisions on whether to repair or swap boards.
  • Coordinate with assemblers for board removal and installation, and with calibration operators for re-testing.
  • Ensure instruments pass testing, are shipped back, and customers are billed.
  • Diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair equipment at the modular and component levels.
  • Communicate repair trends, product failures, and recurring issues to relevant teams.
  • Interface directly with customers requiring repair or limited calibration support.
  • Escalate unusual or complex product issues to engineering or specialized support groups.
  • Complete calibration data sheets with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain documentation for customer requirements, quality records, ISO compliance, and reporting systems.

Requirements

  • Formal electronics foundation: Associate’s degree in Electronics or Engineering Technology, technical trade school, or military technical experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering will also be considered for candidates committed to starting as a Technician.
  • Understanding of general electronics fundamentals.
  • Ability to perform logical and algorithmic troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in repair, engineering, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with electronics, schematics, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with test and measurement equipment and automated testing procedures.
  • Strong data-driven troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to interpret test data and understand block diagrams.

Skills

  • Experience in a service environment.
  • Customer-facing communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Tektronix, Keysight, or Anritsu instruments.
  • Open to new graduates from strong programs or early-career technicians with solid fundamentals and a growth mindset.

Work Environment

The role is situated within a manufacturing environment focused on testing. The Technician will have access to their own workspace and equipment necessary for performing diagnostics and repairs. The position involves supporting legacy equipment. Candidates must demonstrate diagnostic troubleshooting, board and component-level troubleshooting, and repair skills on their resume.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00 per hour. Individual compensation within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Benefits

If eligible, benefits for this temporary role may include:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital insurance.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan—pre-tax and Roth post-tax contributions available.
  • Life Insurance (Voluntary Life & AD&D for the employee and dependents).
  • Short- and long-term disability.
  • Health Spending Account (HSA).
  • Transportation benefits.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Time Off/Leave (PTO, Vacation, or Sick Leave).
