About the Role

M.C. Dean is seeking an Electronics Technician 3 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. As part of the SES Strategic Business Unit, you will design, engineer, integrate, operate, and maintain electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audiovisual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers across high-growth markets.

Responsibilities

  • Executes various technical tasks and responsibilities within field operations, including on-site installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment and systems.
  • Ensures functionality and reliability of technologies through site surveys, hardware and software configuration, system testing, and technical support.
  • Utilizes and comprehends project safety plans (JHA, AHA, PFW) and enforces M.C. Dean handbook and policies.
  • Participates in quality reviews of design documentation, analyzing and interpreting drawing packages for constructability.
  • Tracks project metrics and participates in weekly resource allocation meetings.
  • Verifies correct charges in timesheets on projects and executes installation and maintenance activities within planned durations, ensuring completion of detailed documentation.
  • Tracks and inventories tools, conducts tool inspections, and organizes material ordering and receiving.
  • Conducts daily Operational Risk Management (ORM) meetings, ensures team compliance with safety requirements, and completes accident/incident reporting.
  • Participates in PITCO plan creation and execution to ensure high-quality testing and installation.
  • Installs system raceway, cabling, equipment racks, enclosures, and panels, adhering to industry standards.
  • Terminates, tests, and configures electronic devices, network and IT equipment, including base switch configurations and server/workstation setup.
  • Ensures compliance with established Quality Control (QC) plans and checklists, conducting inspections and documenting findings.
  • Installs and maintains field devices, terminates and tests system components, and troubleshoots copper and fiber optic issues.
  • Leads commissioning efforts, tracks commissioning activities, and assists in representing M.C. Dean in meetings with owners and design teams.
  • Communicates consistently with M.C. Dean project teams, other trades, and customers, demonstrating collaboration and dedication.
  • Leads by example, provides constructive feedback, mentors crew members, and encourages strategic thinking and innovation.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills, aligning with M.C. Dean’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Provides look-ahead for assignment of manpower, material procurement/staging, and resource planning.

Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • U.S. citizenship required; applicants will be subject to a government security investigation for access to classified information (no clearance needed at time of application).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One of the following:
    • Military electronics training (minimum 720 classroom hours),
    • Graduation from an accredited Electronics Technician program, or
    • Graduation from an Electrical Apprenticeship program.
  • An additional three (3) years of electronics installation and/or maintenance activities.
  • Six (6) or more years of progressive experience in electronics installation and/or maintenance on multiple systems and customer programs.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license; position may require ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vendor certifications in multiple IDS, ACS, and CCTV systems (e.g., CCURE, Lenel, Identiv/Hirsch Velocity, Bosch Radionics, Bosch CCTV, Bosch BVMS, AIphone Intercom Systems).
  • Experience with Airphone, FFT, DIVAR, and Windows operating systems, including certifications and installation experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience focused on electronic security systems.
  • OSHA 30 certification.

Abilities

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly, following proper lifting techniques and safety protocols.
  • Capability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at heights up to 60 feet, climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  • Performs physical tasks routinely, including walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Possesses good vision (may be corrected), color vision, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • Uses a standard ladder without exceeding weight limits while carrying tools.
  • Recognizes when something is wrong or likely to go wrong (does not involve solving the problem).
  • Applies general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers.
  • Combines pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions, including identifying relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
  • Sees details at close range (within a few feet).
  • Listens to and understands information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Pay

USD $32.00 - USD $46.00 per hour.
