Electronics Technician - 1st shift

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support production through effective and timely equipment downtime troubleshooting.
  • Develop and implement equipment process improvements through the use of technology and automation.
  • Implement equipment and/or process improvements through the effective use of PLC’s, servo or variable speed drives, camera technology, robotic technology and any other resource(s) available to him/her.
  • Communicate and interface with suppliers to ensure effective teaming with suppliers and original equipment manufacturers and appropriate representation of Tarkett.
  • Aid the maintenance staff in operational debugging of machine controllers, motion systems, robotics, HMI’s, and all other related components in a timely and efficient manner utilizing Tarkett standard techniques and approach.
  • Train lesser experienced electricians and mechanics, thus improving the overall department skills and abilities.
  • Assist the appropriate engineer in machine validation, both internally and at the customer’s facility while maintaining Tarkett work ethics and standards.
  • Communicate with the project “team” to ensure a constant level of project awareness.
  • Work closely with the controls engineer to ensure all schematics and/or backup programs of PLC’s, HMI, camera systems, etc., are kept current and correct.
  • Attend certain technical training classes, as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Supervisor, Controls Engineer or Director of Maintenance, and pass this knowledge along to peers and/or electrical maintenance personnel.
  • Be a self-starter, stay focused and on task with little or no supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 5 – 7 years related experience and/or technical training in PLC’s, HMI’s, VFD’s and electrical controls
  • Associate’s Degree in electrical/electronics engineering is a plus, but not required
  • Trained in and accountable for lock out / tag out policies and procedures
