Electronics Engineering Technician - 1st shift

About the role

As a Debug Technician/Programmer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving the Functional Verification Test (FVT) process and associated equipment to ensure product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and production goals are achieved. You will support continuous improvement initiatives by diagnosing product and test failures, reducing downtime, increasing yields, and driving corrective actions across manufacturing and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electronic circuit boards to component level.
• Exhibit proficiency in the use of electronic test and measurement equipment.
• Apply working knowledge of network hierarchies and configuration techniques.
• Understand and utilize assembly documentation such as schematics, BOMs, visuals, testing tools, and procedures.
• Increase production yields by understanding and reducing operator errors and driving manufacturing and test engineering defects back to the appropriate department.
• Assist Test Engineering department in an ongoing data evaluation program for improving the efficiency of the diagnostic technicians.
• Understand, recognize, and execute Jabil production requirements, rules, policies, and procedures ensuring compliance of WIP and 3-5 rules.
• Utilize TE Tracking forms to document fixture down time and product defects.
• Ensure that all up-rev's, deviations, and engineering changes are implemented and validated.
• Work efficiently to decrease non-preventative maintenance issues to achieve department's downtime goals.
• Frequent customer interface, including travel to customer sites to advance product understanding and diagnostic capability.
• Analyze daily process yield reports including test escapes, operator errors, defective product, test equipment/test defects, RMA product defects, and drive corrective actions.
• Assist Test Engineer in developing preventative maintenance program and assure compliance to reduce downtime and increase process yields throughout the process.
• Proactively look for ways to reduce test downtime.
• Ensure product testing completeness and reliability.
• Generate and update documentation as required.
• Understand and perform all Function Verification Tests in area of responsibility.
• Ensure quality (work meets or exceeds Jabil Workmanship Standards) and improve efficiency.
• Maintain continuous flow of the manufacturing line and meet production goals while performing assigned test duties.
• Advise supervisor of any recurring test or operator failure so that prompt corrective action may be taken.
• Ensure assemblies are properly handled and marked.
• Provide clear direction for test operators.
• Advise on scheduling and staffing needs.
• Comply with all 5S standards.
• Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline required. Programming language experience preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience troubleshooting electronic assemblies to the component level required. Experience working with electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools preferred. U.S. Citizenship required to work at this specific site.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow technical procedures and instructions.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Programming experience in a manufacturing or test environment.
• Experience supporting Functional Verification Test (FVT) processes.
• Exposure to preventive maintenance programs, yield improvement initiatives, and process optimization activities.
• Prior customer-facing technical support experience.
• Experience working in a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment.
