Electronics Lab TechnicianLocation: Onsite, with flexibility to travel within Palo Alto, Hayward, and San Jose lab locations Pay Range: $30.50-$35.50/hr Duration: 18-month contract Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Candidates must pass an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check SummaryOur client, a leader in electric vehicle technology, is seeking an Electronics Lab Technician to join the team responsible for reliability and manufacturing testing of electrical hardware, including Level 3+ ADAS, telematics, infotainment, battery management, and zonal Electronic Control Units (ECUs). This team builds custom automated test solutions spanning internal-facing software, low-level firmware, data management platforms, and custom electromechanical hardware, deployed internally and across external labs and contract manufacturing facilities. This is a hands-on role working closely with engineering leads to conduct reliability and manufacturing testing, review and report test data, build first articles, redline schematics, and troubleshoot hardware issues. Job ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will support hardware bring-up, test equipment operation, and troubleshooting within the electronics test lab. Key responsibilities include:Operating software user interfaces to exercise test equipment during hardware bring-upOwning calibration and mechanical setup of thermal and vibration chambersTroubleshooting, root-causing, and documenting DUT, test equipment, and harness failures Essential Job Duties and Job FunctionsValidate system functionality using standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, and digital multimetersPerform circuit board electronic modifications, including component rework and soldering/de-solderingSupport commissioning of new test systemsBuild first articles and redline schematics as neededReview and report test data to engineering leadsUnderstand and apply control vs. ramp rate equations to determine ramp profile timingRead and explain basic functions of digital components on a schematicUnderstand EVT, DVT, and PVT processes and tester validation Knowledge and SkillsAbility to read electrical schematics, drawings, and manufacturers' product data sheets, including current digital design schematicsHands-on experience with thermal/vibration chambers and chillers, including how setups are assembledOperational expertise with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and clear documentation of test resultsTechnical breadth across development cycles, with the ability to articulate past engineering contributionsProficiency with Microsoft and Google productivity applications (spreadsheets, word processing, presentations)Comfortable using power tools and moving/lifting test boxes and instrumentationHands-on, proactive approach - able to identify and fill gaps where needed Education and ExperienceTechnical degree or equivalent relevant experience in electronics testing5+ years of experience building automated test equipment (ATE) or industrial automation systemsExperience with soldering and circuit board reworkExperience with electrical testing using laboratory tools...
