Job Description

This position works as part of a construction and installation crew installing new or upgrading existing equipment and systems such as navigational aids, air traffic communications systems, and weather monitoring equipment. The Installation Technician completes projects on airports and at remote facilities in various environments. Work will involve electronics systems installation, civil construction tasks, and electrical equipment installation tasks.

  • Aids with site preparation work at ATCT, remote telecommunication sites, Enroute Centers and Terminal TRACONs.
  • Aids with Fiber Optics Terminal System (FOTS) installation at various sites throughout the USA.
  • Aids with electronics installations, integration and testing, electrical power panels; conduit; cableways; control cables; duct banks; AC power panels; racks for various FAA systems.
  • Removes and repairs or replaces components, wires, wire bundles, terminal blocks, and/or connectors.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring

  • 1 year of experience with testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and installation of Fiber Optics, other Radio Control Systems (RCE) and other complex electronics equipment.
  • Candidate must have extensive experience with above and below ground electrical installations, duct banks, manholes, steel racks, towers and poles, surveying, concrete work, excavation equipment operations, and airfield systems.
  • Candidate must be familiar with construction quality and safety best practices.
  • Candidate must be able to read, interpret, and implement project drawings, specifications, and client orders and standards.
  • Candidates should have experience with the use of basic electrical and electronics test equipment.
  • 100% travel is required throughout the United States, its territories and possessions, and anywhere federally owned and operated air traffic equipment is operated.
  • Must pass detailed DOT background check to qualify.
  • High school diploma required. College, trade school, or professional certification(s) is preferred.

  • Advanced electronics training from institutions such as junior college, military service, or trade school training.
  • Maintains repairs, troubleshooting, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals, industrial, measuring, and controlling equipment.
  • Apply technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and apply skills in restoring equipment operation.
  • Terrific customer service skills – a history of working directly with customers and site owners.
  • Computer skills – experience working with Microsoft Office for daily and weekly reporting.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $15.68 - $71.30 per hour.
