About the Role
We have a brand new opportunity due to growth for an Electronics Engineering Technician skilled in electronics, PCBs, and discrete components for GPU-based compute platforms. You will work with oscilloscopes, lab electronic test equipment, power supplies, digital multimeters, digital analyzers, impedance analyzers, and server hardware, including removal, repair, and replacement soldering of discrete components and more. This is an onsite role based in our new engineering lab in Austin, TX, supporting state-of-the-art AI Data Center Systems (Servers & GPUs).
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain PCBs, including rework and replacement soldering of discrete hardware components, circuit testing, and more for AI servers, GPU platforms, and related infrastructure.
- Perform bring-up and debug of server hardware components, PCBs, GPUs, and interconnects.
- Execute hardware modifications, including cable routing and management (power, networking, high-speed interconnects), installation of GPUs, NICs, memory, storage, and accelerators, and test point installation, probing, and signal measurements.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot power, thermal, and cooling issues, failures, GPU detection issues, PCIe errors, and hardware faults such as shorts, damaged PCBs, or marginal components.
- Support failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (hardware, systems, facilities, IT, safety).
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, changes, and test results.
- Support lab and data center operations, including rack builds, rework, and audits.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with server hardware and PCBs, including removal, repair, and replacement soldering of discrete components for data center systems and GPU or accelerator-based platforms.
- Strong understanding of power delivery, cooling, and airflow in high-density systems, and PCIe and high-speed interconnects.
- Experience using lab tools such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Comfortable working in ESD-controlled lab and data center environments.
- Ability to lift and rack servers (with assistance as required).
- Experience with liquid-cooled or hybrid-cooled server systems and high-power GPU racks (multi-kW per rack) is a plus.
- Knowledge of electronics fundamentals, circuitry, and reading schematics, BOMs, and hardware debug documentation.
- Prior work in hyperscale data centers, engineering labs, or NPI environments, especially supporting AI platforms in the semiconductor industry, is advantageous.
Academic Credentials
- Associate degree or trade education certification in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Electronics theory and design coursework.
- Related certifications are highly desirable.
