Position Summary
The electronics engineering technician partners with the manufacturing teams and multiple engineering disciplines across the organization in all areas of mechanical and electrical/electronic design. This position reports to the Electrical Integration Manager of the Functional Test group and is classified as non-exempt according the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.
- Applies knowledge of electrical/electronics and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.
- Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing as well as field service duties.
What You Bring to the Table
- Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, including programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment.
- Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
- Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
- Informs appropriate management of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
- Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.
- Affords assistance to maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting.
- Maintain TSE Lab Environment.
- Affords assistance and training to other maintenance and other technical-level employees.
- Manages, creates, and performs parts entry into IFS ERP system.
- Configures and modifies CCITest sequences.
- Provides field support at the customer site for test system installation as well as repairs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- An Associate’s degree in electronics or related field is required with a minimum of 6 years of work experience in electronics performing similar functions.
- A thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment, including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
- Solid analytical skills; able to resolve complex technical problems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (blueprints and schematics) and specifications.
- Requires a strong initiative, proactive nature and a sense of urgency.
- Must be able to work in a changing, fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of confidentiality and security of intellectual property (ITAR, Prototype).
What to Expect at Work
- Physical Demands: Simple and firm grasping and fine manipulating of the hands to assemble, operate tooling and testing equipment.
- Regular exposure to manufacturing areas which may entail exposure to dirt, dust, noise, machine chemicals, fumes, and other attributes common to this environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Working Environment: Majority of time is spent in usual office working conditions. Ability to sit for extended lengths of time is required; bend, reach, stoop and twist as required. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration; risk of electrical shock.
Compensation and Benefits
- Wage Range: $26 to $35 per hour.
- Estimated Salary: $61,303 to $71,947 per year.
