Electronics Application Development Engineer

About the role
As a Sales Engineer, you will sell and service adhesive application equipment in the California, Nevada, and Arizona territory, with a primary focus on key macro-electronics customers. This role operates in a dynamic, collaborative environment where your ideas and contributions are valued.
Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed established sales budget for systems and parts in the assigned territory.
- Develop and implement a territory sales plan to effectively cover and contact all customers.
- Travel regularly to customer locations, spending the majority of time visiting customers (50-75% travel).
- Maintain and develop relationships with top consumer electronics companies.
- Provide application development and technical support directly to top consumer electronics accounts.
- Offer on-site technical support, including start-up assistance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, line audits, training, and technical counseling.
- Accurately forecast sales on a monthly basis using the Nordson CRM system.
- Identify opportunities and collaborate with Field Service Technicians to sell systems and parts.
- Identify new applications, system upgrades, and customer needs, recommending solutions to improve operations.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of Nordson products, prices, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with Nordson Technical Services, Product Application Engineering, Industry Specialists, and Field Service Technicians to develop written quotes.
- Complete production line audits and application details (speeds, material, dispense rates, etc.) for customer quotes.
- Advise and collaborate with global Nordson colleagues on market changes, competitor activities, and needs for new or redesigned hardware.
- Update key customer information (contacts, sales visits, opportunities, emails, quotes) in the Nordson CRM system daily.
- Maintain professional appearance and company vehicle to reflect corporate image.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical).
- Minimum 5 years of industrial sales experience in a field-based (home office) territory position.
- Familiarity with jetting technology and experience working with top electronics companies.
- Experience with CRM systems (SAP or Salesforce preferred).
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Power BI, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SAP.
- Reside in the greater San Francisco area.
Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and skills.
- Ability to utilize common instrumentation, tools, and equipment (e.g., VOM, multimeter).
- PLC, I/O, circuit knowledge, and troubleshooting skills.
- Hydraulic systems knowledge and skills.
- Ability to read installation, dimension, and troubleshooting drawings, as well as hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Flexibility for overnight travel and adjusted working hours to meet customer requirements.
- Proficiency in Chinese is a plus.
Pay
Salary range for this position is $101,700 to $152,600 annually. Individual salaries are determined by factors including internal equity, business considerations, local market conditions, and candidate qualifications such as education, experience, and skills.
