Electronic Training Instructor

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom instruction, laboratory exercises, and practical hands-on training in marine electrical and electronic systems.
  • Develop lesson plans, training materials, competency assessments, and practical evaluations aligned with Bollinger production standards.
  • Teach installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of shipboard communication systems, fiber optics, RF/network infrastructure, marine electrical distribution, connectors, control cabinets, equipment racks, and electronic equipment.
  • Train students to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Evaluate trainee performance and provide coaching and mentoring.
  • Maintain training records and communicate participant progress.
  • Promote safety and compliance with marine industry standards.
  • Collaborate with Production, Talent Acquisition, and Workforce Development to improve curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Technical training through trade school, military program, apprenticeship, or equivalent preferred.
  • 7–10 years of marine, industrial, or commercial electrical/electronics experience.
  • Shipbuilding experience preferred.
  • Previous training, coaching, or instructional experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of marine electrical/electronic installation and testing.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with connector fabrication, fiber optics, RF testing, Cat5/Cat6 networking, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of ABS, USCG, NEC, IEEE, IEC, DNV or similar standards.
  • Strong communication, coaching, presentation, and Microsoft Office skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Work in classroom and shipyard environments.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Climb ladders/scaffolding.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrate equipment safely.
