Job Summary

Aids in the maintenance, setup, repair, and operation of the aquatic center's electronic timing equipment. Assists with writing and maintaining the instruction and troubleshooting manual. Inspects, cleans, and performs or recommends repairs to all low voltage timing equipment and deck equipment. Recommends purchases related to the electronic timing system.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Operates the electronic timing system during competitions, working directly with event officials and syncing the timing system with event software.
  • Affixes to writing and maintaining the instruction and troubleshooting manual.
  • Regularly inspects, cleans, and performs or recommends repairs to all low voltage timing equipment and deck equipment.
  • Recommends purchases related to the electronic timing system.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications:
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Ability to read, write, and communicate at a level sufficient to perform the functions of the position.
    • Knowledge of and experience with computer systems and software.
    • Experience coordinating and prioritizing tasks.
    • Possess a current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Experience with low voltage systems and equipment maintenance.
    • Knowledge of competitive swimming and water polo event operations.
  • Additional qualifications and/or knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs):
    • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with staff, supervisors, rental organizations and event officials.
    • Ability to learn new systems.
    • Ability to work independently and accomplish assigned tasks.
    • Knowledge of computer systems, network and WiFi access, as well as best practices regarding the college’s network and computer safety standards.
    • Ability to react quickly and effectively in emergencies and assist with the facility’s Emergency Action Plan.
    • Ability to problem-solve complex systems and seek assistance when needed.

Working Conditions and Important Information

  • Works variable schedule, including evenings and weekends, and exhibits regular and predictable attendance.
  • Work may be performed in an office and recreation facility. Work may be performed in an outdoor or indoor facility during variable weather conditions.
  • The work is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Requires extensive mobility for extended periods of time. Works with a variety of equipment.

Initial salary placement will be within the posted range or pay rate of the position, and is based on applicable education and/or years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College and in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws. Please include all relevant education and full and part-time experience (including unpaid and volunteer experience) in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement. Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past education and/or experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
