Job Summary
Under supervision, the Aquatics Aide performs customer service tasks at an aquatics public counter, including providing information to the public and completing online registrations for patrons. The Aquatics Aide also acts as a locker room attendant and monitors locker rooms and secured pool supply areas. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for those with a passion for the field of recreation and aquatics or an interest in public service!
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Provides aquatics public counter customer service functions including: providing information and assistance at aquatics public counter; answering phones; receiving and receipting fees and taking registration information; creating and distributing brochures, flyers, etc.; and completing cash reports.
- Checks in patrons entering the pool area.
- Affords assistance with registering patrons for aquatics programs.
- Might assist with the instruction of swimming lessons and exercise classes.
- Maintains locker room; checks property in and out; and performs locker room attendant duties assigned.
- Enforces proper patron conduct by communicating pool health and safety regulations. Might respond to emergency situations in an aquatic environment.
- Performs cleaning and light maintenance duties, as needed.
Important Job Functions
- Provides direct assistance and customer service functions to general public and patrons.
- Maintains and inspects pool areas and locker rooms.
- Reports safety concerns and hazards.
- Affords assistance with setting up staffing equipment during events and monitoring inventory.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED (desirable)
- No prior experience is required.
- Licenses and Certifications: CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (must attain within three months of hire)

- Pool safety rules and regulations
- Basic operations, services and activities of recreation programs, activities and events

Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a normal office environment and at recreation facilities (parks/pools) where there may be extreme temperatures, exposure to sun, dirt and/or dust.
- The incumbent's working conditions are typically moderately loud.
- Working time requires irregular hours, various shifts, weekends, holidays and/or on-call status.
