ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit)
This is an adjunct (part-time/substitute) instructor pool for the San Diego Community College District. Applications are accepted continuously, but there may not be immediate openings. If you meet the minimum qualifications, your application will be included in the adjunct pool for possible assignments in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, and/or off-campus classes, and applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego.
About the Role
Adjunct faculty members focus on curriculum and teaching, with assignments divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Instructors are required to be available to students outside of class.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
- Teach all scheduled classes.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Provide quality instruction and create an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning while encouraging free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.
Requirements
- Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
- Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.
Qualifications
- Any Bachelor’s degree AND two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
- Any Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
- The equivalent.
Conditions of Employment
- Submit "official" college transcripts as stated on the application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position).
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (renewable every 4 years).
- Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district’s expense (clearance must be received prior to the first day of employment).
- Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Pay
Salary placement is based on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules. Initial placement is at the first class/step until official transcripts are submitted. Instructors with advanced coursework may be placed on a higher class and step following receipt of official transcripts. View the current salary schedule.
