About the role

As a Launch Vehicles Electrical Technician – Level 2 or 3, you’ll be an essential team member supporting missions critical to national defense. You will support all phases of electrical integration and test (I&T) engineering objectives from inception through completion, focusing on electrical testing at the system level for flight hardware and launch support equipment.

This role involves 25% travel and occasional business travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution of electrical test procedures at the vehicle system level as an operator
  • Follow detailed work instructions to set up vehicle-level electrical testing at the direction of the test conductor
  • Execute flight avionics battery charging and maintenance
  • Rework flight harnesses installed inside the vehicle per IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
  • Assist in completing reviews of battery charge/discharge plots and discrete verifications
  • Maintain close coordination and communication with the electrical engineering test conductor
  • Participate in daily escalation and tiered meeting structures
  • Support transition to digital work instructions (MES)
  • Support field mission campaigns and launch execution
  • Work in tight spaces and climb up and down carriages while avoiding damage to surrounding components
  • Move Electronic Ground Support Equipment (EGSE); must be able to carry 40 lbs
  • Support production floor operations, including tasks related to system-level testing of launch vehicle subsystems such as ordnance verification, RF systems, telemetry verification, flight termination system, and flight simulation
  • Operate and troubleshoot Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)
  • Identify discrepancies during testing and provide details to the test conductor
  • Assist in troubleshooting anomalies and help develop solutions
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and champion implementation
  • Maintain shop tools and equipment to 5S standards
  • Work within strict Engineering and Quality standards
  • Assist with mechanical assembly and disassembly as required

Requirements

  • General knowledge of electronics hardware, troubleshooting, and use of mechanical hand tools
  • Ability to work to mechanical and electrical drawing specifications
  • Experience supporting complex system-level testing on flight hardware
  • Daily responsibilities require interfacing with space launch vehicle hardware
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with technicians and engineers
  • Ability to accurately execute detailed manufacturing and testing instructions for flight hardware

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for Level 2

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of additional education and/or related experience
  • Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • Experience supporting electrical testing on flight hardware on a fully integrated vehicle
  • Experience mating/demating flight connections
  • Experience using test equipment such as digital multimeters, frequency generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, and power supplies
  • Hands-on experience assembling, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronics, LRUs, or avionics

Basic Qualifications for Level 3

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of additional education and/or related experience
  • Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • Experience supporting electrical testing on flight hardware on a fully integrated vehicle
  • Experience mating/demating flight connections
  • Experience using test equipment such as digital multimeters, frequency generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, and power supplies
  • Hands-on experience assembling, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronics, LRUs, or avionics

Preferred Qualifications for Both Levels

  • Electronics training equivalent to 2 years technical trade school or military technical school
  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test)
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification

Pay

Primary Level (Level 2) Salary Range: $25.72 - $42.84 per hour

Secondary Level (Level 3) Salary Range: $30.53 - $50.91 per hour

The above salary ranges represent general guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
