Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical equipment such as radios, sirens, light bars, and radar.
  • Design, fabricate, and install equipment for vehicles.
  • Service county vehicles as needed and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain records of work performed on equipment and vehicles; prepare reports for the department.
  • Install new and used parts and accessories.
  • Coordinate equipment orders with department liaisons to ensure timely project completion.
  • Order parts and supplies as needed for projects.
  • Assist other employees with their duties.
  • Strip retired county vehicles of all equipment and decals.
  • Participate in emergency management activities during a local state of disaster as directed by county managers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of technical school and/or specialized training in electronics is preferred.
  • Two years of job-related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive diagnosis and repair.

Pay

Starting salary range: $20.50 - $25.63 hourly, based on qualifications.
