Automotive Upfitter (Emergency Vehicles)

Crown North America is looking to add full-time Automotive Installers to our Day Shift (6:00am to 2:30pm). Location: Hammond, IN (East Chicago Area)

Responsibilities

• Installing all equipment necessary to modify brand-new vehicles into police and emergency vehicles, including routing and installing wire harnesses, controllers, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, component trays, and consoles.
• Disassembling and reassembling factory vehicles.
• Reading drawings, including electrical schematics with limited help.
• Working in an industrial environment that may require heavy physical duties, involving frequent standing, bending, twisting, stooping, and kneeling.
• Performing fieldwork as required, with varying work hours.
• Working overtime as needed.
• Maintaining shop and work bay cleanliness.
• Performing other tasks as assigned by leadership.
• Working independently, maintaining accurate records, finding efficiencies while respecting quality, and contributing ideas to the company.
• Supplying own basic set of tools commonly used in the performance of automotive repair work. Time will be given to new employees to purchase these items after hire if required.

Requirements

• Experience working with automotive electrical systems.
• Experience working with automotive mechanical systems.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Constructive team player with a positive attitude.
• Detail-oriented and focused on quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

Higher consideration will be given to candidates with relevant training, experience, and/or Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification.
