What You'll Be Doing

  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation to support manufacturing operations and equipment improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA industrial safety standards and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
  • Integrate and support a variety of automation and control devices, including:
    • Photo eyes and proximity switches
    • Plastic welding systems (ultrasonic, spin, and hot plate)
    • Servo drives
    • Test systems (Uson)
    • Vision systems (DVT)
    • Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
    • Laser marking systems (Rofin, Fanuc, CLC, and Domino)
  • Collaborate with Corporate Manufacturing Services and Manufacturing Engineering teams to develop equipment requirements for new programs and process improvements.
  • Provide engineering support for APQP and TS16949 product and process development activities.
  • Assist with the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of machinery and facility control systems.
  • Train and support plant personnel on equipment operation, machine safety, and electrical systems.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and implement permanent corrective actions using root-cause problem-solving methodologies.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to ergonomics, process flow, and manufacturing throughput.
  • Identify equipment failures and implement long-term solutions to improve reliability and operational performance.
  • Support plant objectives and achieve established engineering and operational goals.

Qualifications – What You Bring (Must Haves)

  • Associate of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment and industrial controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Added Bonus)

  • Experience in automotive component manufacturing.
  • Experience with APQP, TS16949, or IATF quality systems.
  • Familiarity with machine vision systems, servo controls, and industrial automation technologies.
  • Experience supporting equipment procurement and new manufacturing program launches.
  • Knowledge of ergonomic studies, process flow optimization, and manufacturing throughput improvements.
  • Experience developing business cases and supporting capital equipment projects.
