What You'll Be Doing
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation to support manufacturing operations and equipment improvements.
- Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA industrial safety standards and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
- Integrate and support a variety of automation and control devices, including:
- Photo eyes and proximity switches
- Plastic welding systems (ultrasonic, spin, and hot plate)
- Servo drives
- Test systems (Uson)
- Vision systems (DVT)
- Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
- Laser marking systems (Rofin, Fanuc, CLC, and Domino)
- Collaborate with Corporate Manufacturing Services and Manufacturing Engineering teams to develop equipment requirements for new programs and process improvements.
- Provide engineering support for APQP and TS16949 product and process development activities.
- Assist with the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of machinery and facility control systems.
- Train and support plant personnel on equipment operation, machine safety, and electrical systems.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and implement permanent corrective actions using root-cause problem-solving methodologies.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to ergonomics, process flow, and manufacturing throughput.
- Identify equipment failures and implement long-term solutions to improve reliability and operational performance.
- Support plant objectives and achieve established engineering and operational goals.
Qualifications – What You Bring (Must Haves)
- Associate of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment and industrial controls.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Added Bonus)
- Experience in automotive component manufacturing.
- Experience with APQP, TS16949, or IATF quality systems.
- Familiarity with machine vision systems, servo controls, and industrial automation technologies.
- Experience supporting equipment procurement and new manufacturing program launches.
- Knowledge of ergonomic studies, process flow optimization, and manufacturing throughput improvements.
- Experience developing business cases and supporting capital equipment projects.
