Qualifications

  • Hold, or be eligible to hold, a Utah Secondary or CTE License with the Technology and Engineering endorsement.

Responsibilities

This position operates in three phases, beginning with full-time preparatory work and transitioning into a hybrid role that combines classroom instruction with research, program growth, and multi-site implementation.

  • Phase 1: Design, planning, and stakeholder engagement to launch the program; prepare the classroom; procure required equipment; establish an industry advisory council with local employers to identify workforce entry requirements and ensure program alignment; conduct analysis of regional workforce data to address training gaps; and develop curriculum.
  • Phase 2:
    • Instructional (50%): Teach electromechanical pathway courses (electronics, robotics, manufacturing principles, and CTE internships); provide hands-on training in a laboratory setting; ensure classroom and lab safety; evaluate student proficiency; provide academic support; and coordinate internships with industry partners.
    • Development & Research (50%): Conduct research and needs assessments to evaluate local industry demand; identify and explore new partnerships for program growth; collect and report data on student career choices; conduct a needs analysis for expanding the program to a second school; and prepare a second site for rollout in 2027-2028.
  • Phase 3: Deliver electromechanical technology instruction across two communities in San Juan School District; manage local industry internships and coordinate professional mentors to provide career guidance and technical feedback at both school sites.

Pay

Placed on Licensed Salary Schedule. Placement is determined by education level and years of experience. Experience credit will be awarded for the first ten (10) years of certified experience in an accredited school.

Schedule

Full time, beginning as soon as possible and working throughout the summer to complete Phase 1. Phases 2 and 3 will be full time on a 183-day contract (teacher schedule).
