Department of Defense Secret security clearance obtainable within a reasonable time after hire; U.S. citizenship required.

About the role

As an Electromagnetics & High Frequency Power Electronics Engineer, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team developing smaller, more efficient high-voltage power supplies for subsea communication systems.

Responsibilities

  • Apply Maxwell’s equations to magnetics and parasitics.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for magnetic field simulation using ANSYS Maxwell or COMSOL.
  • Design custom high-frequency power transformers for high-voltage isolated applications, managing core loss, copper loss, and thermal behavior.
  • Select and apply core materials (ferrite, nanocrystalline, amorphous) for target frequency ranges.
  • Design windings to mitigate skin and proximity effects.
  • Control leakage inductance and interwinding capacitance for efficiency and isolation integrity in high-voltage designs.
  • Design and optimize LC tank circuits for resonant power conversion.
  • Understand transformer-resonant network interaction at high frequencies.
  • Tune resonant designs for zero voltage switching (ZVS) and zero current switching (ZCS) to minimize switching losses.
  • Analyze frequency-dependent behavior across load and input voltage ranges.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field.
  • 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master’s degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in high-frequency magnetics design and resonant power electronics.
  • Understanding of dielectric behavior and electric field distribution in high-voltage isolated design.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC analysis at high frequencies.

Preferred Skills

  • Custom magnetics design, resonant converter topologies (LLC, SRC).
  • FEA simulation (ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL).
  • High-voltage isolation design.
  • Defense/aerospace background.
  • Experience with wide bandgap devices (SiC, GaN).
  • Hands-on magnetics characterization experience.
  • MSEE or PhD in Electromagnetics or Power Electronics.

Benefits

  • 401k matching.
  • Flexible time off.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Healthcare benefits.
  • Health & wellness programs.
  • Employee resource and social groups.
  • Flexible schedules with every other Friday off (9/80 schedule).

Pay

Target salary range: USD $142,696.00 – $158,303.00 per year.

Schedule

Fully on-site at the McLeansville Design Center or hybrid/flexible options available.
