About the role

We're looking for an Electrical Engineer – Power Electronics to join our engineering team in Neptune, New Jersey.

In this role, you'll work hands-on with our programmable DC power supply and high-voltage product lines, modifying existing designs to meet customer requirements while supporting new product development alongside senior engineers. You'll gain exposure to the full engineering process—from circuit simulation and testing to design validation, troubleshooting, and product support.

Responsibilities

  • Simulate, analyze, modify, and test power supply circuits to meet custom product requirements.
  • Support new product development and modified standard designs in collaboration with senior engineers.
  • Evaluate electronic component changes and prepare engineering change orders.
  • Perform design validation testing and document results in accordance with TDK-Lambda design criteria.
  • Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis on field-returned products.
  • Support customers with technical and application-related questions.
  • Work with power supply technologies including magnetics, control loops, power semiconductors, and common converter topologies.
  • Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators, AC sources, electronic loads, and other laboratory equipment to test and troubleshoot designs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and other teams to resolve technical issues and support product performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant electrical engineering or power electronics experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Understanding of power supply design fundamentals, including magnetics, control-loop design, and common power converter topologies.
  • Understanding of power semiconductor technologies.
  • Familiarity with power supply safety standards.
  • Familiarity with PCB design.
  • Understanding of EMC considerations related to high-frequency switching and applicable compliance requirements.
  • Experience using standard electronic laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators, AC sources, and electronic loads.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with programmable DC power supplies or other power-conversion products.
  • Experience with high-voltage products with output voltages greater than 1 kV.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following engineering tools:
    • LTspice
    • OrCAD PSpice
    • MATLAB/Simulink
    • Mathcad
  • Experience performing circuit simulation, design validation, and failure analysis.
  • Experience supporting products in a manufacturing or production environment.

Pay

Annual base salary: $90,000–$130,000

Actual base pay will depend on factors including relevant experience, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market conditions. The salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Physical & Work Environment

This position combines engineering office work with hands-on laboratory activities. The role may involve sitting for extended periods, standing or walking during lab activities, using electronic test equipment, and lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.

The work environment may include moving mechanical equipment and authorized work around electrical systems where there is a potential risk of electrical shock. Appropriate safety procedures and protective equipment must be followed.
