Responsibilities

  • Work alongside engineers to build and modify prototypes and test rigs that address a variety of technical challenges.
  • Read and work from various engineering documents including 2-dimensional mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, work instructions and test plans.
  • Be flexible to work with multiple teams on varying projects.
  • Travel to offsite test locations and training may be required at times.
  • Operate a variety of hand tools.
  • Maintain a clean and neat lab.
  • Assemble electromechanical systems such as robotic actuators, electrical motors, junction boxes, and other mechanical assemblies.
  • Conduct testing and data collection on these prototypes using specialized test equipment following provided procedures.
  • Electromechanical prototyping and testing is what we are looking for, largely consistent with assembling a UAV.
  • Prepare and label test coupons or components, including basic cutting, sanding, or measurement tasks.
  • Comfortable working around mechanically complex or high-energy equipment with strong attention to safety.
  • Proficient with basic precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
  • Familiarity with mechanical assembly, part preparation, or prototype fabrication environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new equipment and technical processes quickly.

Qualifications

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and workflow coordination with the ability to complete tasks on time.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Able to stand and work on their feet for extended periods.
  • Able to obtain a DOT medical card and Mass hoisting license within 90 days from date of hire to operate fork truck (company provided training).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED.
  • Preferred candidates will have: Vocational secondary education degree, or Certification of post-secondary hands-on training in electrical or mechanical systems assembly and troubleshooting, or 5-plus years of relevant aerospace technical experience.
  • Ideal candidates will have: Machine shop experience with milling and turning (Bridgeport and lathe). CNC is a plus. Welding experience (MIG, TIG, stick) Electro-mechanical assembly experience, wiring and soldering skills. Testing experience includes adherence to test protocol, recording data, computer data acquisition, and data reduction using Excel.

Language Skills

  • (English) - Must read, write, speak, and present ideas effectively.

Computer Skills

  • Competent use of laptop and desktop PCs running Windows OS and using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • SolidWorks experience is a plus.
