About the role

The Electro-Mechanical Quality Test Technician III is responsible for performing live testing and inspection duties on Medium Voltage Gas-Insulated Switchgear, Medium Voltage Cabling, Medium Voltage Dry-Type Transformers, Medium Voltage PV Inverters, and related Low Voltage control circuits. This position is based at the Knightdale, NC facility and operates on a 1st shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Perform end-of-line electrical testing and commissioning duties
  • Inspect each product to company quality standards and guidelines per internal documentation
  • Review electrical specifications and drawings to ensure that products have been built correctly on production line
  • Troubleshoot solutions that benefit the team in the event of electrical or mechanical deviation and implement corrective action
  • Prepare and maintain inspection, test, and quality reports
  • Work with production and engineering teams during the inspection process and report any findings
  • Adhere to developed processes, methods and/or seek ways to improve processes

Requirements

  • 6+ years of prior work experience with electrically testing and troubleshooting power distribution equipment in a manufacturing or field setting
  • High school / GED or equivalent
  • Experience working with various types of inspection and electrical test tools and methods (Megger, hi-pot, multi-meters, ratio testers, torque wrenches, tape measures)
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience with electrical control circuits
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in electrical / electronics engineering and/or a certification equivalent (NETA, NICET, MSHA 46/48, OSHA 30, or NFPA 70E) (preferred)
  • Must be able to proficiently read electrical schematics, including being able to identify and understand electrical component symbols and describe the electrical flow of a circuit
  • Experience with protection and control relays
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot causes for wiring failure
  • Ability to inspect electrical and mechanical workmanship against internal quality documentation
  • Ability to work in a team setting and suggest solutions and improvements when faults are found
  • Conform with Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety policy and Management System and strive for continual improvement of the intended outcomes of the Management System

Pay

The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location. The pay range for this position is $33.00 per hour.

Schedule

This position operates on a 1st shift schedule.
