About the role

This position reports to a Design Engineering lead. The main responsibility is to expand the capability of testing solutions for electrical products. The candidate will require skills in CAD, organized thinking, record keeping, and basic electrical knowledge. Mechanical and Electrical engineers are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive and refine testing documentation for electro-mechanical systems
  • Understand functions of products and how they interact with each other
  • Learn relevant regulations and codes for the markets we serve
  • Communicate design intent to manufacturing teams internal and external
  • Execute Engineering prototype build
  • Other duties as necessary

Internship Projects

  • New product development testing
  • Generating engineering changes (ECNs) to release into production new or improved electrical components, electrical panels, wiring harnesses and/or electrical systems changes
  • Simple 12v design of marine electrical systems
  • Install, test and troubleshoot AC/DC electrical circuits, components or systems to ensure proper operation as needed

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering
  • Able to synthesize a solution when design inputs are vague or incomplete
  • Comfortable in multi-tasking situations
  • Selfless, can-do attitude; willing to learn
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States immediately, without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D CAD software packages (Creo & Creo Schematics utilized)
  • Familiarity with marine and/or RV products in professional or recreational environment
  • Familiarity with ABYC requirements
  • Experience with new product introduction cycles
  • Shop/Bench fabrication and/or assembly skills
  • Basic wiring skills and experience with wiring
  • Knowledge of Komax products is a plus

The work environment is supportive, collaborative, and conducive to learning. Student co-ops or interns typically work on specific projects or tasks that contribute to the organization’s goals. Co-ops and Interns are expected to work a full 40-hour work week.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
