Electro-mechanical Engineer HVAC/R

About the role

We are seeking a skilled engineer to join our dynamic team at CAREL USA, Inc. This position involves leading the development and project management of HVAC/R projects, collaborating with other Product Development personnel, and assisting with design modifications.

Responsibilities

• Leading the development and project management of HVAC/R projects
• Conducts or assists in conducting tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors
• Confers with other Product Development personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop designs
• Prepares product or system layouts and creates detailed drawings and schematics
• Plans and prepares product bills of materials (BOM), and implements them in the data management system
• Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system
• Plans, develops and runs test & validation programs to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
• Research of components to meet specifications
• Communication with suppliers or manufacturers for technical issues and new designs
• Aids with design modifications using the Engineer Change Order (ECO) process
• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks
• Solid Works preferred
• Aids with customer support and trouble-shooting, and assists the Sales/Marketing department
• Participates in field startups and tests as needed
• Supports Operations department in technical or product related issues
• Works with the Purchasing team for quotes, engineering samples, and first piece inspections
• Participates in Lean continuous improvement activities

Requirements

• Education - Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Experience - Two years minimum work experience in HVAC/R systems, Product design and Project management, ERP systems, Oracle preferred, Solidworks (preferred) or equivalent 3D modeling experience
• Language and Communication Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
• Computer Knowledge - Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word). Knowledge of Google suite of application, Adobe, Oracle is preferred
• Mathematical Skills - Engineering level
• Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Teamwork/Collaboration - Working as part of a team and the ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication. Steady, collaborative personality
• Attention to Detail - Ability to read and interpret purchasing related documents and working with details on a daily basis for prolonged periods of time

Qualifications

• Education - Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field
