Electro-Mechanical Engineer
About the role
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and developing integrated electro-mechanical systems for motor-driven and power conversion applications. Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling, mechanical design, and the integration of electronic and mechanical components is essential. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including electrical, firmware, manufacturing, and compliance to deliver innovative, reliable, and robust solutions for our next-generation power tools.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative, reliable, and safe electro-mechanical systems and motor controls using 3D modeling and detailed drawings, managing BOMs and documentation in PLM systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Product Management, Industrial Design, Reliability, Compliance, Sourcing, Manufacturing) to define product requirements, "Critical to Quality" attributes, and ensure robust product development.
- Release comprehensive product specifications, RFQ packets, and costed BOMs; partner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to achieve optimal cost, quality, and timely delivery.
- Contribute to development of electro-mechanical modules for power electronics and power tool applications supporting both high-mix and low-volume production.
- Conduct tolerance stack-ups, DFMEA, PFMEA, process control plans, and release engineering changes to support robust product development.
- Perform engineering analyses (structural, thermal, airflow, FEA), design validation, and advanced testing to optimize product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement for manufacturing, assembly, and product performance issues.
- Support manufacturing and DFM initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Support regulatory documentation and reporting.
- Support multiple projects, meeting schedule, cost, and quality objectives, and provide regular status updates to management.
Requirements

- Proficient in 3D modeling software (CATIA preferred); ability to generate detailed 2D drawings
- Familiarity with printed circuit board design and integration
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes for electronic and other products
- Demonstrated ability to design plastic and metallic components, working with a variety of materials
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and failure analysis
- Experience with supplier development and working with contract manufacturers for key components
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet schedule and cost commitments
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams
- Strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement; understanding of quality, performance, schedule, and cost objectives in a cross-functional environment
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
