Key Responsibilities
- Translate customer requirements, industry standards, and product specifications into practical, reliable, and cost-effective electromechanical solutions.
- Develop product architectures integrating electrical circuits, mechanical systems, embedded firmware, and, where applicable, software.
- Select and integrate microcontrollers, sensors, switches, actuators, motors, communication interfaces, and power-management components.
- Develop, test, document, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based products.
- Build and troubleshoot breadboards, proof-of-concept models, engineering prototypes, test fixtures, and pre-production units.
- Perform hands-on wiring, soldering, assembly, modification, and debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, programmers, and debuggers.
- Develop and execute functional, electrical, mechanical, environmental, reliability, firmware, and system-level validation plans.
- Analyze test and field failures, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and document design changes.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineering to integrate circuit boards, wiring, sensors, actuators, controls, enclosures, latches, locks, and other mechanical components.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, failure-mode evaluations, and design-for-manufacturing, assembly, and test activities.
- Collaborate across engineering, project management, product management, sales, quality, sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing, and operations.
- Support new-product introduction by developing assembly methods, production test procedures, fixtures, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot production issues and support released products through component substitutions, engineering changes, product improvements, and cost-reduction initiatives.
