  • Develop product architectures integrating electrical circuits, mechanical systems, embedded firmware, and, where applicable, software.
  • Select and integrate microcontrollers, sensors, switches, actuators, motors, communication interfaces, and power-management components.
  • Develop, test, document, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based products.
  • Build and troubleshoot breadboards, proof-of-concept models, engineering prototypes, test fixtures, and pre-production units.
  • Perform hands-on wiring, soldering, assembly, modification, and debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, programmers, and debuggers.
  • Develop and execute functional, electrical, mechanical, environmental, reliability, firmware, and system-level validation plans.
  • Analyze test and field failures, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and document design changes.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering to integrate circuit boards, wiring, sensors, actuators, controls, enclosures, latches, locks, and other mechanical components.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, failure-mode evaluations, and design-for-manufacturing, assembly, and test activities.
  • Collaborate across engineering, project management, product management, sales, quality, sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing, and operations.
  • Support new-product introduction by developing assembly methods, production test procedures, fixtures, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support released products through component substitutions, engineering changes, product improvements, and cost-reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electromechanical, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience designing electronic or electromechanical products, preferably within an automotive, industrial, commercial, or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of circuit-board design, analog and digital electronics, microcontrollers, embedded firmware, and mechanical system integration.
  • Hands-on experience building, testing, and debugging electronic and electromechanical prototypes.
  • Ability to read and create schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with sensors, actuators, motors, communication interfaces, and laboratory diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong analytical, root-cause problem-solving, documentation, and customer communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while balancing product performance, quality, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of relevant product-development experience.
  • PCB design experience using electronic design automation tools.
  • Embedded programming proficiency in C or C++.
  • Experience with CAN, LIN, UART, SPI, I²C, Ethernet, Bluetooth, or similar protocols.
  • Knowledge of automotive electronics, EMC/EMI, environmental, durability, and reliability testing.
  • Experience with OEM customers, new-product introduction, revision control, and engineering change management.
