Electrified Powertrain Torque Control Algorithm Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a cross-functional team, utilizing various tools (vehicle, HIL, Dyno, Virtual, rapid prototyping) through the V-model development process to ensure quality and robustness of the production algorithms.
  • Model mechanical systems to simulate and understand requirements in Simulink for control purposes.
  • Interface with systems and calibration to fully understand the requirements.
  • Develop implementation strategies.
  • Audit and document the impacts against regulatory requirements.
  • Markup Simulink models to ensure the design meets functional/operational requirements.
  • Validate the design during the production process.
  • Ensure project is on track by developing plans, tracking progress, and presenting technical reports to management and project chiefs.
  • Participate in the decision-making process on controls strategy design to achieve functional objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university with 10+ Years Automotive Experience.
  • Specialization in classical and modern control disciplines with vehicle application.
  • Embedded software experience.
  • Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK.
  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis tools such as ETAS-INCA.
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong overall knowledge of vehicle and powertrain functions.
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, development, testing, calibration and/or validation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • 8+ years experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university with 10+ Years Automotive Experience.
  • Specialization in hybrid torque control disciplines.
  • Knowledge of powertrain control system architecture/best practices.
  • Demonstrated application of technical excellence.

Skills

  • Strong background in modeling of mechanical transmission systems.
  • Familiarity with using lever analogy principles for determining dynamic torque and speed relations.
