About the role
This role combines your technical expertise with the opportunity to mentor students in a dynamic lab environment.
Responsibilities
- Aid faculty in setting up laboratory systems, equipment, and trainers for student hands-on assignments.
- Maintain lab equipment, tools, and supplies while providing technical support and safety oversight during Electrical laboratory sessions.
- Work directly with faculty to ensure students receive hands-on training with properly functioning equipment and systems.
- Assist in equipment setup, breakdown, and storage following lab exercises.
- Identify safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Communicate with department coordinator regarding equipment status, safety concerns, and student progress.
- Participate in program meetings, workshops, and recruitment events as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with Electrical systems, equipment, and components.
- Working knowledge of Electrical systems.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrician Journeyman or associate degree in Electrical / Refrigeration.
- 3+ years experience with Electrical Systems.
- Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience.
Physical Requirements
- (If needed to maintain lab and equipment) Ability to lift to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Continuous walking, reaching, bending, and kneeling.
