PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Electrician Technician III position utilizes a specialized skill set in performing assigned duties and tasks. Responsible for campus-wide maintenance, service and repairs on electrical, lighting, and HVAC systems.

Essential Job Functions

  • Directs and participates in preventive and corrective maintenance as well as general maintenance of electrical, lighting, and HVAC systems.
  • Maintains daily works orders/records of equipment, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities and produces periodic reports.
  • Conducts weekly, monthly and annual inspection of facilities/equipment.
  • Repairs and/or replaces electrical components in campus buildings.
  • Maintains and repairs buss ducts and load distribution centers.
  • Troubleshoots and services multiple voltages up to and including 480 volts.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, replacements and programs VFDs, MCC components, and lighting control systems.
  • Maintains continuous inventory of electrical equipment and supplies.
  • Aids management with recommendations for selection of vendors and purchase of equipment and services.
  • Fulfills college, state, and federal guidelines and standards regarding safety.
  • Assists with general maintenance duties such as plumbing, carpentry, HVAC as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Must be capable of performing labor-intensive work associated with facilities maintenance.
  • Must be capable of safely operating powered equipment such as: Electrical tools and equipment, voltage meters, testing equipment, saws drills, and be able to determine which equipment to use for a particular purpose.
  • Must have knowledge of and ability to follow building codes.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook.

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to work at heights up to 50 feet.
  • Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
  • Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Closing visual acuity to perform principal duties and responsibilities.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

Job Schedule And Conditions

  • Lifting, trip hazard, and power tools/equipment safety and chemical precautions must be observed.
  • Work may be performed inside and outdoors and exposure to normal atmospheric conditions may exist.
  • Interface with internal and external contacts, as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
  • May regularly travel to different LSC locations.
  • May be fully reassigned to other LSC locations if necessary.
  • May need to work weekends and untraditional hours if necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED and at least 7 years of experience.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and be eligible for insurance coverage.
  • Journeyman Electrician license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and General Maintenance systems.
  • Master Electrician's license.

Salary

Hiring salary range is: $54,528 - $62,707 Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
