Electrician Specialist

About the role

The Electrician Specialist performs advanced-level responsibilities in various facilities managed by the Flood Protection Authority-East, ensuring the integrity of the regional flood risk management system. This role involves working with local, regional, state, and federal partners to manage projects that reduce flooding risks.

Responsibilities

  • Install, alter, maintain and repair wiring systems for vertical gates, record surveillance systems, communication radios, interior and exterior lights, electric taps, exhaust fans, and other electrical fixtures and equipment associated with buildings.
  • Perform electrical inspections of electrical equipment, switch gear controls and appliances. Replace electrical components on control systems; perform some mechanical work in replacing and repairing parts.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical motor starters, related switchgear, and controls. Ensure the operational ability of sector gates.
  • Maintain and make minor repairs to mechanical and electrical equipment on gates and movable bridges. Maintain generators used to operate the floodgates and perform minor repairs as required.
  • Operate floodgates, generators, and bridges and inspect for operational deficiencies. Perform minor maintenance on all equipment assigned to them.
  • Install and make repairs on nonmetallic cables (Romex, conduits (Greenfield), and thin-wall or rigid conduit). Must be able to bend pipe. Bends pipe for specific job sites, as requested.
  • Ensure operational ability of vertical drop, fuel distribution, air compressors, programmable logic controls, and generators.
  • Document inspections and repairs in accordance with USACE Operations and Maintenance Manual.

  • Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
