Here Is What You Will Do
The ideal candidate will perform skilled manual work, such as installing, altering, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. In addition to supporting the departments, Electrician, Senior will also:
- Install conduits, wiring, pull boxes, switchboards, etc., necessary for additions, extensions, or alterations to electrical systems.
- Assist and instruct other electricians on projects.
- Serve as the lead person at times.
- Monitor electrical equipment for needed repairs and maintenance.
- Service and repair lighting, power, heating, cooling, and communication systems.
- Monitor the functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and needed adjustments.
- Repair, install, and test safety devices, such as fire alarms, ground fault interrupters, circuit breakers, and fuses.
- Repair and replace parts in motors, generators, pumps, storage batteries, switchboards, etc.
- Drill holes for wiring; splice wires by stripping insulation, soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
- Replace fuses, light bulbs, and switches.
- Troubleshoot electrical equipment for preventative repairs and maintenance.
- Gather tools and supplies for the work site; clean work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain tools and equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Anticipated Hiring Range
$43,100 - $51,800. Salary offers will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications in relation to the Minimum Hiring Standards. Candidates earlier in their careers are typically offered salaries closer to the minimum of the hiring range, while those with more advanced or relevant experience may be considered for compensation at or above the hiring range.
Minimum Requirements
- Technical or vocational degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications
- Knowledge of the electrical trade's practices, procedures, and safety precautions.
- Knowledge of local electrical codes.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to operate tools and equipment used in the electrical trade.
- Ability to access confined spaces.
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds and interpret building drawings.
