ELECTRICIAN MASTER
About the role
A Master Electrician is a highly skilled and experienced technician responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of machinery and equipment. The role requires a deep understanding of electrical and automation systems and their application to different types of machines. The position involves working closely with the production department and other members of the maintenance/electrical teams. Additionally, the Master Electrician trains and mentors other electricians, works with contractors, and participates in continuous improvement projects.
Responsibilities
- Performs inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of any electrical and automation equipment according to preventive maintenance schedule and notes any defects.
- Utilizes fitting instruments and diagnostic equipment to fix, introduce, supply, and test volt and underneath electrical circuits, hardware, and apparatuses.
- Performs PDMA test, static, dynamic and must be able to interpret the results of the motor status.
- Performs fire systems FIKE, CO2 injection and Deluge system inspection and repair.
- Reads and works from electrical diagrams in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plant and quarry electric equipment with minimal supervision.
- Repairs and troubleshoots circuits.
- Dismantles, inspects, repairs, replaces, or adjusts faulty parts, and wiring on electrical equipment.
- Performs motor refurbishment according to the OEM Standards.
- Performs brush replacements, measures strength of springs, replaces brush holders, and adjusts and sets new brushes. This includes equipment with Low, Medium, and High Voltage.
- Performs preventive maintenance on 4160 power distribution, switches, and transformer (6400 KVA).
- Performs VFD, inspection, troubleshooting and reparations, including electronic boards and power, DV, AC in low and medium voltage (GE, Yaskawa, ABB, Toshiba, TMEIC, Allen Bradley).
- Performs isolating test on medium voltage cables, transformers, and main switches.
- Performs electronic, mechanical relays inspection, troubleshoots.
- Performs medium voltage motor starters, rheostats, and synchronous motors inspection.
- Performs inspection and reparation of UPS system.
- Be able to run Calibrations, trouble shoot and verify with patron gas the CEMS and process analyzers in K1 & K2.
- Perform transmitters installation, including programing or calibration.
- Perform PLC input signal complete configuration. Including the configuration on the field and the PLC.
- Perform PLCs (programmable logic controller) and digital drives/control systems inspection.
- Performs weigh feeder controllers’ inspection, configuration, troubleshoot.
- Performs load cells, encoders inspection.
- Performs weight rollers alignment.
- Performs Miltronics, Siemens, Merrick, Pfister, Schenck, inspection, calibration, and verification. Including but not limited to, scales, weight bins, impact scales.
- Performs control troubleshoot and modification accordingly, for example, finding signals, getting trends, and analyzing.
- Performs transmitters installation, including programing or calibration.
- Performs PLCs (programmable logic controller) and digital drives/control systems inspection.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required, associate degree or Industrial Electrical, Automation Diploma, or equivalent certification through the US Military, with emphasis on Industrial electrical and Automation systems preferred.
- 5-7 years electrical maintenance experience in industrial operations required.
- 5-7 years of experience in aggregate, cement, or heavy industrial operations preferred.
- Electrical certification or license, or ability to obtain credentials.
- Strong understanding of electrical and automation principles.
- Proficient in the use of tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
Qualifications

Physical Requirements
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Working days and nights according to the schedule.
- A job involves walking or standing for extended periods of time.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, to communicate with employees/visitors.
- Must be physically able to perform essential duties of the position properly and efficiently.
- Ability to lift upwards of 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally.
- Ability to work out of man lift or crane basket at various heights.
Working Conditions
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise and working outdoors.
- Performs work regularly on platforms and towers up to 200 feet in height.
