Electrician Lead

About the Role

The Electrician Lead is responsible for troubleshooting problems with hydraulics, mechanics, and equipment while ensuring compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. This position requires knowledge of electrical schematics, charging systems, industrial electrical systems, and mobile equipment electrical. The role operates under flexible parameters with the primary goal of achieving excellence in all facets of the position.

Responsibilities

• Strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and provides a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
• Installs and maintains motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers.
• Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as brushes and armatures.
• Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
• Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
• Leads, guides, and trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.
• Repairs and maintains motor control centers (familiarity with 4160 volt and below).
• Repairs and maintains machines and equipment with PLCs.
• Plans electrical secondary system additions or modifications.
• Performs work of lower-level electricians as needed.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Reads, employs, and updates electrical panel schedules.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Performs special projects or other duties as needed or assigned.
• Supports the company’s internal control process, including compliance with defined internal controls and reporting policy violations or illegal actions.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED Certification required.
• Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in Industrial Maintenance.
• Current journeyman electrical license.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to drive an automobile.
• Knowledge of secondary electrical systems, including planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits.
• Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test 4160 volt and below electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers for secondary systems 4160 volt and below.
• Ability to lead and train staff.
• Ability to read commercial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Ability to install and maintain motors, welding equipment, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers.
• Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.

Working Conditions

• Regularly exposed to all weather conditions.
• Physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt are present due to equipment, machinery, and scrap metal processing.
• Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, and face shields must be worn to mitigate risks.
• Travel is not required.
• Workload may be unpredictable with substantial pressure during peak times; critical deadlines require adaptability.
• Disturbances of workflow and irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur intermittently.
• Extra hours may be required, sometimes on weekends, weekdays, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to crouch or bend at the knees occasionally to increase visibility.
• Ability to climb up to 60 vertical steps occasionally.
• Ability to stoop or bend at the waist occasionally to increase visibility.
• Ability to reach at arm’s length frequently or overhead occasionally.
• Ability to twist and turn at the neck and trunk.
• Ability to walk frequently on uneven ground.
• Ability to handle and grasp tools and parts continually.
• Ability to communicate by speech and hearing continually.
• Visual acuity needed for close detail work.
• Mental dexterity needed to work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness.

Pay

$59.55 to $68.75 hourly.
