Electrician - Journeymen

About the role

Bear Valley Electric is a Wisconsin electrical contractor that does quality work and takes care of its people. We're looking for Licensed Journeyman Electricians who are serious about their craft, lead by example, and want to build something long-term with a company that actually invests in them. Apprenticeship sponsorships are available.

Responsibilities

• Leading apprentices and helpers by example, teaching the trade the right way, keeping the crew focused and productive
• Planning ahead so your team always has their next task and the job stays on schedule
• Holding yourself and your crew to BVE's quality standards, safety policies, and NEC code compliance
• Owning the job paperwork, time cards, field docs accurately and on time
• Communicating clearly with the team and customers in a professional, positive manner
• Performing physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit or moving or lifting heavy objects
• Fastening small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets
• Performing business management duties, such as maintaining records or files, preparing reports, or ordering supplies or equipment
• Providing preliminary sketches or cost estimates for materials or services
• Constructing or fabricating parts, using hand tools, according to specifications
• Repairing or replacing wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools
• Advising management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
• Installing ground leads and connecting power cables to equipment, such as motors
• Inspecting electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
• Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
• Testing electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
• Directing or training workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures
• Planning layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
• Maintaining current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations
• Connecting wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
• Assembling, installing, testing, or maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools
• Using a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps
• Working from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures
• Placing conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pulling insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes
• Preparing sketches or following blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
• Providing assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights or generators, placing flares, or driving needed vehicles

Requirements

• Wisconsin Journeyman Electrician license (required)
• A track record of quality work and showing up on time
• The ability to lead a crew firm, fair, and professional
• 5 years of electrical construction experience
